Hakushon Daimao, widely known as Bob in a Bottle outside Japan, is a comedy anime series made by Tatsunoko Production. Aired in Japan from 1969 to 1970, it is regarded as one of the most popular early slapstick comedy anime in Japan. Tatsunoko Production

Tatsunoko Production is generally recognized as one of the most important animation production companies in Japan. Established in 1962 by two brothers, Kenji Yoshida and Toyoharu Yoshida (aka Ippei Kuri), many of their works were inspired by American superhero comic books given to the brothers by American soldiers after the war. Their notable works include Mach Go Go Go (aka Speed Racer), Gatchaman (aka Battle of the Planets) and Tekkaman. Toyoharu also served as a guest professor at the Kyoto University of Arts and Crafts.
